Essential aftercare instructions & tips

Understanding how to care for your skin after each laser tattoo removal session is key to a successful outcome. Here’s what you need to know about immediate care and how to support your skin's healing in the days and weeks following your treatment with inkx mobile service.

Immediate aftercare (first 24–48 hours)

Cool the area: Apply cool compresses or ice packs (wrapped in a clean cloth) for 15–20 minutes several times a day to reduce redness and swelling.

Keep it clean

Gently wash the treated area with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser twice daily. Avoid scrubbing or using a washcloth; pat the skin dry gently with a clean towel.

Avoid heat

Stay away from hot showers, baths, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 48 hours, as heat can exacerbate irritation.

Restrict activity

Avoid strenuous exercise or anything that causes excessive sweating for at least 48–72 hours to prevent irritation and infection.

No makeup

Avoid applying makeup for the first 24–48 hours to allow the skin to breathe. When you resume, use mineral-based or non-comedogenic products.

Ongoing healing & care (days & weeks after)

Moisturize frequently: Apply a high-quality, fragrance-free moisturizer or a recommended occlusive ointment (like Aquaphor or Vaseline) regularly to prevent dryness and maintain the skin barrier.

Sun protection is essential

Your skin will be extremely sensitive to UV rays. Apply a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, even indoors, and wear a wide-brimmed hat if you must go outside. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2–4 weeks.

Do not pick or scratch

As the skin heals, it may flake, peel, or crust. Resist the urge to pick at it, as this can lead to permanent scarring or infection.

Avoid "actives"

Skip products containing retinoids, AHAs/BHAs (glycolic or salicylic acid), Vitamin C, or alcohol-based toners for at least 1–2 weeks, or until your provider gives the green light.

Lifestyle and long-term care

Hydration: Drink plenty of water to support the skin's internal recovery and elasticity. Avoid Hair Removal: For laser hair removal specifically, do not wax, tweeze, or thread the area during your entire course of treatment. Shaving is typically allowed but wait until any initial redness has subsided. Stop Smoking: If applicable, avoid smoking for at least two weeks post-treatment, as it can significantly delay the healing process.
